Minneapolis Skyway System

  • The Minneapolis Skyway System is an enclosed system of pedestrian footbridges
  • The Skyways enable people to walk in climate-controlled comfort year-round
  • The Skyway System encompasses 11 covered miles and links 80 city downtown blocks
  • The Skyways are owned by individual buildings so there are not uniform opening or closing times for each section of the skyway
  • The Crystal Court in the IDS Center (now Ameriprise Financial) helps unify the system via the Crystal Court’s spacious atrium which acts as a hub connecting the skyways in all four directions
